If you are interested in wireless networks, and sensing then I would suggest you to go for Wireless sensor network.(WSN) Although initially you cannot make a any integrated system, But I suppose making a little contribution in latest technologies counts great points in your favor. "Image compression in WSN" is good tipic if you can see more details on internet.

That can help you land on a job too or be a very good thesis subject for MS
and PhD.
After MS you can work too in Pakistan, but the conditions right now aint so
good.

Primary objective of the job:

Number of persons Managed / Supervised and their positions:
Nominally two Survey Engineers and Transmission Planners whose work has to be coordinated and their design incorporated into overall network.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Analysis of the survey results and recommendations produced by the Transmission Planners and Survey Engineers for the connection of new radio base stations (RBS) to the microwave transmission access network
* Provision of link budgets, quality and availability calculations, diversity protection, frequency planning, traffic analysis, routing and equipment allocation for new microwave links.
* Incorporation of new microwave links in the PDH/SDH microwave transmission network design for new base station sites, inter-connection to other operator's networks, backbone transmission links and other transmission links for adhoc requirements such as Customer Care Centers.
* Carry out on a recurring basis the optimization of the transmission network design to ensure the optimum reliability and availability. This necessitates extensive studies with regards to frequency planning and interference, capacity utilization, also changes in the network topology.
* Ensure the contractor receives a complete set of documentation for all new or changes to existing microwave links. (This is a very important prerequisite prior to the microwave links being installed as the documentation contains all relevant data).
* Assist and provide input in preparing the technical specifications for transmission equipment comprised in the Bill of Quantities to be submitted to the vendor.
* Provide support to Operations and maintenance for transmission faults as and when required.
* Ensuring accurate records related to the overall transmission network are regularly maintained and presented in the form of a database.
Academic qualifications and experience required for the job:
* Degree in telecommunications / electronics engineering or equivalent qualification
* Minimum of two years (degreed) or six years (not degreed) experience in a telecommunications environment, preferably in the mobile telecommunications industry.
* A thorough practical and theoretical knowledge of microwave engineering and network design, also a proven record of the capability to carry out line of sight surveys.
* A minimum of two years practical experience as a microwave installation engineer and the ability to carry out associated tasks such as traffic routing, analyzing problems and providing solutions for their rectification.
Functional Skills:
* A high level of competency with the computer software Pathloss (or similar) which is used for microwave link engineering and network design.
* Have good analytical aptitude when problems in the network design are encountered and the ability to solve these problems.
* Good communications skills with colleagues and associates in work related disciplines.
Internal/External contacts:
Rollout team - continuously
Core Network - occasionally

To ensure that the Transmission network of Digicel is working at the best performance. Assign and dispatch all the technical personnel in their area of responsibilities without prejudice and danger. To achieve the TX O&M activities required in the Digicel Network concerning DXX Tellabs and/or TX systems.
Number of persons managed/supervised and their positions:
3 TX Engineer
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Operation and Maintenance
* DXX Tellabs Systems to be 100% in service
* Delivering the services needed by Digicel for TX network along the Haitian
Territory .

* Coordinating with interfacing Departments such as NOC, Technical Areas and Customer Care etc.
* Assigning and dispatching the field Engineers in their daily routine works
* Planning for the daily activities such Preventive and Corrective Maintenance, Trouble shooting and Upgrading procedures

* Regular submission of reports for the status of the network in DXX and/or TX systems.
* Monitoring the KPIs and GOS in DXX and/or TX systems.

* Verification of functionality

* DXX Tellabs Systems to be 100% in service
* Delivering the services needed by Digicel for TX network along the Haitian
Territory .
1. Coordination's
* Coordinating with interfacing Departments such as NOC, Technical Areas and Customer Care etc.
* Assigning and dispatching the field Engineers in their daily routine works
* Planning for the daily activities such Preventive and Corrective Maintenance, Trouble shooting and Upgrading procedures
1. Report Making
* Regular submission of reports for the status of the network in DXX and/or TX systems.
* Monitoring the KPIs and GOS in DXX and/or TX systems.
1. Equipment Selection
* Evaluate the equipment performance
* Outsourcing other equipments for the future expansion or additional services DIGICEL might offer
* Equipment evaluations (specifications)
* Equipment acceptance
1. System Acceptance and Testing
* Verification of functionality
* Verification that specifications are met
* Accept /Reject and sign off system /equipment so that payment can be made to vendor
1. Manage human resource under control to achieve company ,departmental, and section objectives
* Man management
* Objective setting
* Performance appraisals
* Performance reviews
* Planning, organizing and controlling for successful results
1. Staff Development
* Technical Training
* Leadership
* Succession planning
* Objective setting
* Performance assessments
1. Manage external service providers
* Ericsson/ TalkPool/Camtel/
Academic qualifications and experience required for job:
* Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering
* More than 3 years of experience in Telecommunications industry
* 3 years of Experience in DXX systems: Tellabs.
Functional Skills:
* 1 year of Project Management Experience
* DXX / TX Training and Experience
* Speak and Write English is a must

TX O&M manager
O&M Manager
TX Vendors, TX suppliers and TX contractors.
