Dear Dr. Qasim,
The little I have been able to find in my research is that CSP projects for electricity generation have been undertaken at a large scale. The one I pointed out is one example as is the Ivanpah solar tower based system, another poster child for CSP based electric power. Little thought has been practically implemented at at a few hundred watts to few kilowatts built with technologies and materials that are easily understood and workable. That I believe would be the killer CSP app for Pakistan. Ideally this should not involve complex design and technology and a technician who can service a suzuki Mehran or CD 70 should be able to service and fix mechanical parts and an average electric technician in rural area the electric part.
Some of the high end large scale designs need precision CNC machining, helium gas, self lubricating surfaces to stop working gases to escape heat transfer etc. Other need highly polished glass or other reflective surfaces. That is all well known and well researched. A practical design for a third world nation and at lower wattage is still not out there yet in practical form from what I know.
If there are pointers to practical implementation of workable, reliable and cost effective low power CSP based electricity generation designs that you and others on this forum know of, kindly do point me to that.
Thanks.
Regards,
Imran
