Re: [pakgrid] $1,044,352,779

Another thing which is perhaps most important and always touched me in California is the personal touch that university system give to students/researchers/fellows.
The gap between students and faculty is huge here and students hardly comments even if they disagree. Alumna's would only donate if they had a wonderful time in the school during studies. I know for sure, most of our schools (administration) would do everything possible to make the life of students as difficult as possible even if they are in the final semester and about to be in the market. The issue here is not the staff only but the university system (regardless of public or private schools).
Until and unless administrators/trustees put serious effort and spend generously on the faculty and staff development to create caring culture in the schools, I doubt if anything is gonna change.

I study in UET and all the positive points you listed of foreign universities we have here in UET and other quality Government Engineering Universities: health services, dining, sports, bookstore, sports, transportation, tradition, etc.

But still the most significant thing missing is Academic Reputation, High H-Index Faculty with strong research publications, Collaboration with industry and academia. Thats why we prefer foreign universities.

I had a very similar discussion earlier today. US universities give their students a lot more (of course they also charge a lot more) than most Pakistani universities; health services, dining, sports, bookstore, sports, transportation, tradition, etc. This leads to a deeper sense of belonging in the alumni.

Also, Western societies do not believe in pampering their children as much as us. Most of us, if we have money to give, will keep it safe for the progeny, rather than giving it for a charitable cause.

$1,044,352,779 (over $1 billion)

This is the amount of money my alma mater Syracuse University collected in its campaign targeting the alumni and their employers.

I wonder if any Pakistani University is thinking about or planning of contacting the alumni and requesting them for donations.
